New Journey, New Fabric
African super wax fabric are so beautiful that I find it very difficult to throw away any of them, as a matter of fact I can’t do it!
I love to re-use and re-create old styles giving them a new life just like I did with my grandmother’s fabric, see the article HERE.
Some days ago my mother was selecting the “old” clothes to give away and my attention was stolen by this beautiful skirt made with Vlisco fabric and I had to ask her the story behind it.
In the 90’ taking a flight in Ghana for many people was a great event mostly commemorated with a new dress purposely made. My father migrated to Italy during the 80’ and the rest of us joined him in the year 1990. My mom bought this fabric in Accra ( Ghana) on 7th june 1990 and gave it to the tailor that same day who created a top ( no where to be found again) and this beautiful skirt. This is the outfit she used to make the journey to Italy on 8th june 1990.
So this fabric marked the start of a new life for my family in a new country which has become our new Home and this same fabric is going to start a new journey.
I’m sure I’m going to create something wonderful and unique with this fabric, do you have any suggestion?
