Duku: Tradition or Fashion?

Scarf, duku, gele, head wrapping… these are all the words that are linked to the word Africa.

You can’t find any African Country where the use of headscarf is not present, isn’t it?

This use is not only cultural but it also involves fashion, design, styling and beauty.

Each country has its own styles and materials used for the head wrapping.

There are simple styles for everyday use, and then there are complicated, sophisticated styles used only during big events ( weddings, birthdays, child dedication etc) where  professional stylist will tie your duku/gele and transform you into a queen.

Among the young ladies this tradition is still alive with different styles and methods of ting.

Just check on you tube and you’ll find a whole lot of you tubers demonstrating how to wear headscar.
